Pakistan Army Chief Visits South Waziristan, Reaffirms Commitment to Security and Development


Wana: General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, recently visited Wana in the South Waziristan District to assess the current security dynamics and the progress of development initiatives in the region. During his visit, the Army Chief received detailed briefings on ongoing counter-terrorism operations and the overall security situation.



According to Inter Services Public Relations, General Munir engaged with officers and troops on the ground, where he commended their readiness and morale amidst persistent threats. He reiterated the Pakistan Army’s resolve to combat the adverse agendas of hostile entities and their collaborators.



The COAS also expressed his profound respect for the members of the security forces and law enforcement agencies who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He assured continued support and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies, specifically the KPK Police, aiming to bolster their operational capacities.



During his visit, General Munir highlighted the significant contributions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents towards regional peace and their active involvement in the South Waziristan Integrated Development Plan. He affirmed the Army’s commitment to utilizing its resources for the welfare and development of the local populace.



General Munir also extended his gratitude towards the tribal elders for their crucial support in the fight against terrorism and their steadfast alliance with the Pakistan Army.



The visit commenced with COAS laying a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument, paying homage to the martyrs. He was received warmly in Wana by the Commander of the Peshawar Corps, marking the significance of the visit in reinforcing military and community ties in South Waziristan.
