Pakistan Army Chief Visits Germany to Strengthen Military and Diplomatic Ties


Berlin, General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, is currently on an official visit to Germany, where he has engaged with both military and civilian leadership to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen bilateral relations.



According to Inter Services Public Relations, General Munir was received by General Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence, at the Federal Ministry of Defence, where an honor guard by the German Armed Forces welcomed him. His visit included meetings with Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, Chief of the German Army, and visits to key military training facilities such as the Army Combat Training Centre in Gardelegen. There, General Munir observed urban warfare demonstrations and received briefings on the training provided to German forces and other international contingents.



The Chief of Army Staff’s itinerary also featured discussions with prominent German officials including Mr. Jens Plötner, Foreign Policy and Security Advisor to the Federal Chancellor; Mr. Tobias Linder, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Nils Hilmer, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence. These meetings underscored the collaborative spirit between the two nations, with the German leadership expressing appreciation for the Pakistan Army’s role in combating terrorism and maintaining regional stability.



General Munir is also scheduled to visit the German Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Hamburg, where he will address students from various countries on Pakistan’s regional and international security perspectives and the contributions of Pakistani Armed Forces to United Nations Missions.
