Pakistan Army Chief Stresses Need for Kashmir Resolution for South Asian Peace

Karachi, General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, emphasized that achieving peace in South Asia is contingent on resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

According to Kashmir Media Service, General Munir conveyed this message during his meeting with UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, in New York. During the discussion, he expressed strong disapproval of India’s unilateral and illegal actions in altering the status of Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting these moves as a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

The Army Chief reinforced Pakistan’s position on the Palestine issue, urging the Secretary General to rally international efforts for an immediate halt to the conflict in Gaza. He emphasized the necessity of a Two State Solution as a lasting resolution to the Palestine-Israel conflict.

General Munir also expressed deep concern over the situation of innocent civilians who are suffering amid conflicts and are deprived of adequate humanitarian aid. He pointed out the urgent need for providing relief and protecting these vulnerable populations.

Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary General, recognized the concerns raised by General Munir and expressed gratitude for his visit to the UN Headquarters. In response, the Army Chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the United Nations and its endeavors to address global challenges.
