Pakistan Army Chief Observes Multinational Exercise Indus Shield-2024, Highlights Inter-Service Cooperation


Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited an operational air base of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) today to observe the multinational exercise Indus Shield-2024, one of the region’s largest air force exercises. He was received by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf.



According to Inter Services Public Relations, the Indus Shield-2024 exercise has drawn participation from 24 international air forces, aiming to strengthen interoperability and provide joint training through advanced facilities under the theme “Stronger When Together.” General Munir expressed satisfaction with the PAF’s combat readiness and ongoing modernization initiatives, which he witnessed firsthand through a series of operations and static displays. He further commended the PAF personnel for their commitment to securing Pakistan’s airspace and emphasized the vital role of collaboration between military branches in achieving operational success.



Air Chief Marshal Sidhu expressed gratitude for General Munir’s visit, reaffirming the commitment to fostering cooperation between the army and air force. He also detailed the PAF’s ongoing modernization and indigenization efforts, including the incorporation of advanced weapon systems. Air Chief Sidhu noted that the Indus Shield-2024 exercise is set to enhance interoperability among the 24 participating nations, equipping air and ground crews to tackle modern warfare challenges.
