Karachi, The Armed Forces of Pakistan have reiterated their steadfast commitment to continue the war against terrorism, aiming for the complete eradication of the terrorist threat, with the extensive support of the nation. This resolve is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to maintain national security and regional stability.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the year 2023 saw significant strides in Pakistan’s defense and security operations, particularly in countering terrorism amidst regional unrest. The security forces conducted a total of 18,736 intelligence-based operations across the country, resulting in the elimination of 566 terrorists, including high-profile targets. Additionally, 5,161 terrorists were apprehended during these operations.
Notably, key commanders of the Baloch National Army, Gulzar Imam Shambe and Sarfaraz Bengalzai, were brought back into the national mainstream, marking a significant achievement for the intelligence agencies. In Balochistan alone, 15,063 intelligence-based operations led to the elimination of 109 terrorists.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces carried out 1,942 operations, neutralizing 447 terrorists. Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Sindh also witnessed counter-terrorism operations, with a combined total of over 2,100 operations resulting in the death of several terrorists.
The Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies, and citizens of Pakistan have made considerable sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. Over 1,000 people, including 260 officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army, have laid down their lives in terrorist attacks.
The Armed Forces have initiated various measures to establish peace and stability in the country. With these efforts, there is a growing optimism for sustained peace and security in the future.
