Karachi: Pakistan is poised to experience significant economic activity from the hides of animals sacrificed during Eid-ul-Azha, with expectations set at generating 8.7 billion rupees from the hides of approximately 7.5 million animals.
According to Radio Pakistan, the number of sacrificial animals in the country has increased by 17 percent over the past decade. This rise in animal sacrifices is expected to contribute substantially to the leather industry, which has shifted its focus over the last nine years from supplying raw hides to producing profitable finished goods.
The report highlights that the exports of leather products and footwear from Pakistan have now reached 694.20 million dollars, underscoring the growing importance of the leather sector in the nation’s economy.
