Pakistan Announces Visa Reforms to Boost Foreign Investment and Tourism

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has unveiled comprehensive visa reforms designed to attract foreign investors and tourists, promoting economic growth and boosting tourism in Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the new policies include visa-free entry for businessmen from Gulf countries and expedited online visa processing within 24 hours for individuals from 126 countries. Additionally, the visa fees for businessmen and tourists from these countries will be waived to further encourage visits and investments.

The reforms also introduce a sub-category for visa on arrival specifically for Sikh Yatrees holding passports from third countries, aiming to enhance religious tourism. Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the implementation of an E-system of electronic gates at major airports including Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore, which is part of the broader initiative to modernize entry procedures and improve the visitor experience.

These changes, Sharif noted, are expected to significantly contribute to Pakistan’s economic stability and increase foreign exchange reserves by making the country a more attractive destination for international business and leisure activities.
