Pakistan and World Bank Commit to Sustaining Improvements in Fund Disbursements

Washington: In a significant meeting held in Washington DC, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Anna Bjerde, the Managing Director of Operations at the World Bank, reaffirmed their commitment to continue the positive trend in fund disbursements for Pakistan’s development projects. The discussions focused on several key initiatives and future cooperation between Pakistan and the World Bank.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting allowed Minister Aurangzeb to detail the progress of the Joint Domestic Resource Mobilization Initiative (JDRMI), which is supported by both the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The initiative aims to enhance Pakistan’s domestic resource mobilization capabilities as part of broader economic reforms.

The minister also expressed gratitude for the World Bank’s consideration of a new grant facility aimed at improving project preparation in Pakistan. Both parties agreed on the importance of maintaining the momentum in fund disbursements, which are crucial for the ongoing and future development projects in the country.
