Washington D.C, In a recent interview on China Global Television Network-America’s program “The Heat,” Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, highlighted the evolving dynamics of Pak-US relations and the balancing act with China. Ambassador Khan emphasized that the relationship with the United States is advancing with a strong focus on mutual benefits, unaffected by Pakistan’s ties with China.
According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Khan discussed several aspects of the bilateral relationships during his interview with Anand Naidoo. He addressed the post-war perception management between Pakistan and the US, describing efforts to forge a stand-alone relationship amidst regional geostrategic complexities. “We are looking towards the future with confidence,” Khan remarked, indicating significant progress in bilateral dialogues aimed at shared goals.
On the Pak-China front, Khan reassured that Pakistan’s deepening relationship with China, notably through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), does not undermine its friendship with the United States. He outlined the holistic expansion of the CPEC projects, which now includes sectors such as tourism, technology, and agriculture, aiming for completion by 2030 with about $25 billion already disbursed.
Furthermore, Ambassador Khan touched on the broader implications of multilateral relations, advocating for peace through dialogue and expressing optimism about the potential for increased cooperation between the Western bloc and China. He also shed light on Pakistan’s domestic reforms and economic stabilization post-2022, highlighting developments in IT, renewable energy, and privatization efforts.
The discussion also previewed the upcoming visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister to China, which will focus on enhancing defense ties, deepening economic cooperation, and fostering cultural exchanges, aiming to strengthen the strategic and economic bonds between the two nations.
