Pakistan and UK Sign Agreement to Strengthen Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Cooperation

London, In a significant development aimed at bolstering law enforcement and criminal justice cooperation, the governments of the United Kingdom and Pakistan have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI). This agreement, witnessed by Pakistan’s Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, and the UK’s Home Secretary, James Cleverly, focuses on enhancing collaboration on various security challenges including illegal migration and organized immigration crime.

According to Press Information Department, the LOI facilitates a broad framework for cooperation, addressing key areas such as narcotics control, serious criminal investigations, and the management of transnational crime. It sets the foundation for sharing criminal conviction data, improving extradition processes, and jointly tackling illicit financial threats.

The implementation of the LOI will be overseen by a joint Steering Committee, reflecting a structured approach to this international partnership. Both ministers emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration in improving security measures at air and sea borders and enhancing the capacity of law enforcement agencies through training and resource sharing.
