Islamabad: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met with the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, Mr. David Lammy. The meeting focused on reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral relations and discussing regional issues of mutual interest.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders deliberated on various aspects of the Pakistan-UK relationship, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the partnership to promote regional peace and stability. Deputy Prime Minister Dar highlighted the pivotal role of the British-Pakistani community in strengthening the ties between the two nations.
During the discussions, Deputy Prime Minister Dar expressed his eagerness to collaborate with Foreign Secretary Lammy on shared concerns such as climate action, youth opportunities, and expanding trade and investment. He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to elevating their long-standing ties to a strategic partnership level.
Foreign Secretary Lammy extended his congratulations to Deputy Prime Minister Dar on Pakistan’s recent election to the UN Security Council and reassured the UK’s support for Pakistan during its tenure. Both ministers agreed to maintain close communication leading up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled for October 2024.
