Pakistan and UK Continue Dialogue on Arms Control and Non-Proliferation

Islamabad, The 6th round of the Pakistan – United Kingdom Dialogue on Arms Control and Non-Proliferation convened in Islamabad, led by Ambassador Mohammad Kamran Akhtar, Additional Foreign Secretary (Arms Control and Disarmament) of Pakistan, and Ambassador Stephen Lillie, Director of Defence and International Security at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, United Kingdom.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the dialogue covered a broad range of critical topics including global and regional security issues, the impact of new technologies like artificial intelligence on military strategies, and the peaceful uses of nuclear technology. The discussions also touched on significant agendas of international forums such as the First Committee of the UN General Assembly, the Conference on Disarmament, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing coordination on multilateral platforms concerning arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation. They agreed to continue these important conversations, scheduling the next round of consultations to take place in London next year.
