Pakistan and Uganda Employers’ Federations Sign Strategic Collaboration Agreement

Karachi: In a significant development aimed at enhancing business relations and promoting trade, the Employers Federation of Pakistan (EFP) and the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) have signed a Memorandum of Collaboration, Cooperation, Advocacy, and Lobbying. The agreement was inked under the auspices of the Federal Commerce Minister, Jam Kamal Khan, on the sidelines of the FoodAG exhibition in Karachi.

According to Employers’ Federation of Pakistan, the signing ceremony saw key figures including Syed Nazar Ali, Secretary General of EFP, and Douglas Opio, Executive Director of FUE, formalize the partnership. The event was also attended by notable personalities such as the Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Zubair Motiwala, and Nooh Mayambala, Chairman of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce of Uganda, among others.

Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan highlighted the significance of the collaboration, expressing optimism that such initiatives would foster greater cooperation and open new avenues for Pakistani exports, particularly to Uganda and other African nations. The minister emphasized the importance of employer organizations working in harmony to strengthen business ties internationally.

Zubair Motiwala, presiding over the ceremony, shared ambitious projections for Pakistani agricultural exports, which are expected to surpass $10 billion by June 2026. He noted the impressive turnout at the FoodAG exhibition, with nearly 800 foreign delegates, underscoring the global recognition of Pakistan’s quality products.

Motiwala also extended an invitation to FUE to bring a substantial delegation of Ugandan employers to Pakistan to explore the country’s economic progress and diverse market offerings, aiming to solidify business partnerships.

Majyd Aziz, former President of EFP, lauded TDAP’s efforts in organizing a successful exhibition and fostering international trade relationships. He mentioned that both EFP and FUE, as members of the International Labour Organization and the International Organization of Employers, have committed to pursuing shared goals at the ILO.

Nooh Mayambala expressed gratitude towards the Pakistani officials for their support and offered the Islamic Chamber’s assistance in further promoting bilateral trade and investment initiatives between the two countries.

This agreement marks a crucial step toward enhancing the economic ties between Pakistan and Uganda, with both nations looking to capitalize on each other’s markets for mutual benefit.
