Islamabad, In a significant move to bolster agricultural innovation and expertise exchange, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing agricultural research and promoting the cultivation of date palm in Pakistan. The agreement, signed in Abu Dhabi, marks a pivotal step towards fostering cooperation between the two nations in the agricultural sector.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the MoU was signed by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, and the General Secretary of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid. This partnership is set to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and resources, contributing to the agricultural development of both countries.
A key highlight of the MoU is the focus on date palm cultivation, providing Pakistani farmers with an opportunity to expand their production capabilities in this area. Additionally, the agreement paves the way for the organization of the first Pakistan International Date Palm Festival 2024, an event anticipated to showcase the potential and advancements in date palm agriculture within Pakistan.
This collaboration underscores the commitment of Pakistan and the UAE to advancing agricultural research and development, leveraging each other’s strengths to achieve mutual benefits in the agricultural domain.
