Karachi: A memorandum of understanding was signed between Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori and Managing Director of YTH Event Organizer Muzamil Athar to organize the Pakistan UAE Jiu-Jitsu Friendship Cup under the auspices of the UAE. The signing ceremony was attended by Consul Generals from various countries, including Iran, Qatar, Japan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, and Bakhit Atiq Rumithi.
According to Sindh Governor House, the agreement outlines the organization of the Pak-UAE Jiu-Jitsu Friendship Cup and the Inter-School Jiu-Jitsu Championship Olympiad set for 2025. Both Pakistan and UAE have committed to cooperating in sports, focusing on promotion and development. Special Jiu-Jitsu training will be introduced in educational institutions, targeting talented athletes with assistance from the Sindh Jiu-Jitsu Association, which will play a pivotal role in supporting the event as the Patron-in-Chief.
During the ceremony, Governor Sindh emphasized the significance of promoting sports alongside cultural and trade relations between Pakistan and the UAE. He commended the UAE’s proactive steps in promoting Jiu-Jitsu in Pakistan, expressing optimism about the associated trade opportunities. Governor Tesori highlighted that the events would involve delegations from various sectors, enhancing bilateral trade and investment. He also pointed out that participation from consuls general, business communities, industrialists, and NGOs from countries such as UAE, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Japan, Bangladesh, and Bahrain is a routine at such events held at the Governor’s House.
Governor Tesori underscored the current favorable investment climate in Pakistan, encouraging foreign investors to explore promising sectors. He noted the positive economic indicators, including an all-time high stock exchange and decreasing interest rates. Furthermore, in response to media queries, he mentioned that constitutional amendments by a stable parliament are contributing to economic improvements. During the event, he awarded gold medals to two martial arts champions from the UAE and announced a cash reward of one lakh rupees each for their achievements.
