ABU DHABI: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have signed a series of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and a Protocol aimed at deepening bilateral ties across multiple fields, including investment, digital economy, and artificial intelligence. The agreements were finalized during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission held in Abu Dhabi.
The session was co-chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, alongside UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. The discussions included a review of the full spectrum of bilateral relations, with both sides agreeing on specific measures to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, banking, culture, and energy.
Before the formal proceedings, a working group meeting was led by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Tariq Bajwa, and UAE’s Minister of State, Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh. The Joint Ministerial Commission also focused on promoting inter-ministerial coordination and strengthening institutional mechanisms.
In addition to the MoUs, a protocol was signed to outline procedural frameworks for follow-up actions and facilitate reciprocal visits. The protocol also established sectoral working groups for better coordination between the two nations.
The session, conducted in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, included discussions on regional and global developments, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to regional peace and stability. They also signed specific agreements on visa exemptions and the establishment of a joint task force to promote investments.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the meeting and agreed to hold the 13th session of the Joint Ministerial Commission in Pakistan on mutually determined dates. The successful convening of the session highlights the strong and multifaceted relationship between Pakistan and the UAE, demonstrating their shared vision for a progressive partnership.
