Pakistan and Turkmenistan Pledge to Speed Up TAPI Pipeline Project

Islamabad: In a significant move to bolster regional energy security and economic integration, Pakistan and Turkmenistan have agreed to expedite efforts on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. This decision was made during a recent meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Petroleum, Musadik Malik, and Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredow, who is currently on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions between Minister Malik and Minister Meredow were productive, leading to a mutual commitment to push forward with the TAPI project. Minister Malik highlighted the substantial progress already achieved and underscored the project’s critical role in promoting economic integration and ensuring energy security for the region.

On his part, Minister Meredow announced plans for a roadmap to enhance bilateral cooperation further. Meanwhile, the CEO of the TAPI Pipeline Company noted that the project has made significant strides and is well on course, thanks largely to the proactive involvement of Pakistan’s Ministry of Petroleum and the Special Investment Facilitation Council.
