Pakistan and Turkmenistan Commit to Accelerating TAPI Pipeline Project

Islamabad: In a significant development aimed at enhancing regional energy connectivity, Pakistan and Turkmenistan have reiterated their commitment to expedite the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline project. This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Dr. Musadik Malik, Federal Minister for Petroleum of Pakistan, and Mr. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, who is visiting Pakistan with a high-level delegation.

According to Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the discussions focused on strengthening diplomatic and economic ties and advancing the TAPI pipeline project, which is expected to significantly reduce energy costs, boost industrial growth, and enhance economic development across the region. The meeting was marked by a spirit of mutual respect and collaborative intent, with both sides expressing a keen interest in maintaining continuous engagement to ensure the project’s success.

Dr. Musadik Malik highlighted the strategic importance of the TAPI project for Pakistan’s energy security and regional integration. He noted that the project has made considerable progress due to the collaborative efforts between the participating countries and expressed Pakistan’s full commitment to its completion. His Turkmen counterpart, Mr. Rashid Meredov, commended the warm hospitality and expressed optimism about setting a cooperative roadmap forward.

The meeting also included discussions on specific advancements and ongoing efforts to overcome challenges faced by the TAPI project, which has been hailed as a cornerstone for regional stability and prosperity. The presence of top officials from both countries, including the CEO of TAPI Pipeline Company Ltd, Mr. Muhammetmyrat Amanov, underscored the high level of engagement and the strategic priorities placed on this transnational energy corridor.
