Pakistan and Turkiye Pledge Joint Efforts to Combat Terrorism: PM


Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan and Turkiye to jointly eliminate terrorism, emphasizing the importance of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity. In a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Irfan Neziroglu, the Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s desire for peace in South Asia.



The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s acceptance of a ceasefire understanding with India as part of its peace efforts. He expressed gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his unwavering support during recent regional tensions, noting the strong fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkiye.



Acknowledging the support from the Turkish people, Prime Minister Sharif praised their solidarity with Pakistan, describing it as a significant chapter in the countries’ relations. He also lauded Pakistan’s Armed Forces for their successful military operation, which he described as a historic victory.



On bilateral relations, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress in Pak-Turkiye ties following President Erdogan’s visit to Islamabad. He called for the timely implementation of decisions made during high-level meetings and proposed convening a Joint Commission meeting between the countries’ Foreign Ministers.



Ambassador Neziroglu congratulated Pakistan on its military and diplomatic achievements, expressing Turkiye’s delight in Pakistan’s commitment to peace in the region. He reiterated President Erdogan’s desire to strengthen ties and continue high-level engagements between the two nations.
