Islamabad: An event was held at Pakistan House in Ankara to mark the 77th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.
According to Press Information Department, the event was attended by key figures including former Turkish Foreign Minister and current Member of Parliament Mevlut Cavusoglu, Chairperson of the Human Rights Investigation Commission of the Turkish Parliament Derya Yanik, former Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akdag, and other dignitaries from academia, business, and media.
Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke about the historical ties and friendship between the two nations, emphasizing the need for increased collaboration in addressing challenges such as terrorism and regional instability. He also praised Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid for his role in strengthening the bilateral partnership, advocating for continued efforts in areas like trade, economy, defense, and security. Derya Yanik highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership and reiterated Türkiye’s support for Kashmir’s right to self-determination.
Recep Akdag noted the enduring strength of the relationship, while MP Burhan Kayaturk recalled the historical support from the subcontinent’s Muslims, now Pakistan, to Türkiye. Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid described the relationship as “Two States-One Nation,” underscoring its foundation on shared religious, cultural, and historical ties. He emphasized the robust institutional frameworks in place, such as the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and the Strategic Economic Framework, which guide the partnership towards mutual goals of security, peace, and prosperity.
