Pakistan and Turkey Deepen Aviation Industry Collaboration

Islamabad, High-level discussions between Pakistan and Turkey have set the stage for an enhanced partnership in the aviation sector, focusing on training, joint ventures, and technological advancements.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting in Islamabad, featuring Combat Commander of the Turkish Air Force General Ìsmail Güneykaya and Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, emphasized mutual interests in the aviation industry. The talks centered on bilateral training, progress in existing joint ventures, and potential new areas of collaboration.

During the meeting, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu shared the PAF’s comprehensive modernization strategy, which includes the integration of emerging technologies. He highlighted the longstanding religious and historical ties between Pakistan and Turkey, underpinning their strategic partnership.

The Air Chief expressed appreciation for the Turkish Air Force’s participation in Exercise Indus Shield and reaffirmed his commitment to bolstering bilateral relations, particularly in military cooperation, strategic alliances, and training. He reiterated the PAF’s commitment to providing training and capacity-building assistance to the Turkish Air Force.

General Ìsmail Güneykaya acknowledged the significant progress made by the PAF in developing a robust indigenous aviation industry. He expressed his determination to further strengthen the ties between the two countries. He showed keen interest in exploring training opportunities for Turkish Air Force pilots in the Combat Commanders Course at the prestigious Air Power Centre of Excellence.

Both commanders agreed to explore additional cooperation areas through bilateral and multilateral military exercises, with a special focus on collaboration in technology-based future programs. During his visit, General Güneykaya also toured various installations and technological infrastructure at Air Headquarters in Islamabad.
