Pakistan and Turkey Aim to Boost Economic Ties

Islamabad, Pakistan and Turkey have pledged to enhance their economic partnership, focusing on expanding trade and investment between the two nations. The commitment was underscored during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema and Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Paçaci.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Cheema praised the 2022 Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with Turkey as a pivotal development and discussed the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in Pakistan aimed at attracting investment from allied countries. The meeting also explored Turkey’s potential investments in Pakistan, particularly in corporate farming and agricultural machinery and equipment.

Both parties emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation through Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) frameworks. Ambassador Paçaci expressed a keen interest in broadening trade relations through the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) and the Strategic Economic Framework (SEF), with a particular focus on sectors such as energy, banking, trade, and railways.
