Islamabad: In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP and HRD) engaged in strategic discussions with Tajikistan’s Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Sharifzoda Yousuf Toir, and H.E. Mr. Ahmadzoda Nurmahmad, Director of the Agency for State Material Reserves from Tajikistan. The meeting, aimed at enhancing cooperation, focused on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning Labour Mobility and the exchange of industrial expertise notably in the garment and horticulture sectors.

According to Press Information Department, the MoU on Labour Mobility will facilitate the exchange of skilled professionals and workers between Pakistan and Tajikistan, capitalizing on both nations’ industrial strengths. Pakistan, recognized for its robust garment and textile expertise, plans to send experts and designers to assist in the development of similar industries in Tajikistan. Conversely, Pakistan intends to utilize Tajikistan’s growing sector demands by providing skilled labour in horticulture and gardening.

The Federal Minister for OP and HRD highlighted the mutual benefits of this agreement, noting, “This MoU will open up a new chapter in Pakistan-Tajikistan relations. By leveraging our respective strengths in key industries, we are creating opportunities that will benefit the economies and workforce of both countries.”

In response, the Tajik Ambassador expressed a strong interest in importing skilled labour from Pakistan, particularly highlighting the need for professionals in the garment, stitching, and shoe-making industries. To further solidify this partnership, the Director from Tajikistan extended an official invitation to the Federal Minister for OP and HRD to visit Tajikistan, which was accepted. This visit is expected to foster deeper cooperation through vocational training and technology transfer, aiming to contribute to the socio-economic development of both nations.

Both parties agreed to maintain regular consultations and follow-up meetings to ensure the effective implementation of the initiatives discussed.
