Pakistan and Sri Lanka Advocate for Palestinian State with Pre-1967 Borders

Islamabad, 17 Oct 2023:In a recent sideline meeting during the 3rd Belt and Road Forum, Pakistan and Sri Lanka jointly voiced their support for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al Sharif as its capital. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and President Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed their shared concerns over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza due to ongoing Israeli military actions.

Both leaders underscored the importance of initiating a humanitarian corridor to provide aid to the besieged Gaza residents. Prime Minister Kakar highlighted the significance of regional cooperation to foster economic growth, peace, and connectivity. Both dignitaries also discussed prospects for mutual learning in privatization of State-Owned Enterprises. Concluding the meeting, they emphasized fortifying the bilateral ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, expanding on their historical cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.
