Islamabad: In a move to deepen bilateral ties, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to enhance their cooperation in the Information Technology and Telecommunications sectors. This commitment was reiterated during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy.
According to Press Information Department, the discussions centered on mutual interests with a focus on facilitating Pakistani tech companies’ access to the Saudi market. Minister Khawaja highlighted the potential of the Saudi market for Pakistani IT firms, advocating for easier visa and travel processes for companies registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB). She also expressed a desire to collaborate with Saudi Arabia in the area of cybersecurity.
Ambassador Al-Malkiy affirmed Saudi Arabia’s full cooperation in the IT and telecom sectors and pledged to support the movement and operations of Pakistani tech companies in Saudi Arabia. The meeting, which also included MoITT’s Director General of International Coordination, Syed Jawwad Ali Sherazi, underscored the strategic importance of IT and telecom in strengthening the economic and technological partnership between the two nations.
