Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Commit to Strengthen IT and Telecom Collaboration

Islamabad: In a significant move to enhance bilateral relations, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to boost their partnership in the Information Technology and Telecommunication sectors. This commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting between Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy.

According to Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, the discussions focused on mutual interests and the expansion of IT and Telecom collaborations. Minister Shaza Fatima expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to enhance ties with Saudi Arabia, identifying the kingdom as a pivotal market for Pakistani tech enterprises. She advocated for greater facilitation of Pakistani IT companies, particularly those registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), in obtaining visas and traveling to Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, the talks highlighted a shared interest in the field of cybersecurity, with both parties expressing a desire to work jointly on this front. Ambassador Al-Malkiy assured full cooperation from Saudi Arabia in supporting Pakistani tech ventures, including easing visa and travel processes.

The meeting, which also included Syed Jawwad Ali Sherazi, Director General International Coordination at MoITT, underscored the strategic importance of IT and Telecom in strengthening the economic and technological ties between the two nations.
