ISLAMABAD, A comprehensive meeting was held between Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, and a notable parliamentary delegation from Rwanda, led by the Senate President, Dr. Kalinda Francois Xavier, at the Parliament House in Islamabad.
According to the Senate of Pakistan, the meeting, marked by amicable interactions, delved into several areas of shared interest, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to enhance bilateral and parliamentary ties. Significant focus was given to the possible expansion of trade between the two nations, in line with Pakistan’s “Look Africa” policy.
Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, expressed Pakistan’s intent to forge strong ties with Rwanda, emphasizing the country’s importance in Pakistan’s foreign relations. The Chairman discussed the vast potential for collaboration in sectors such as agriculture, food security, and human resource development.
The significance of increased interactions between businessmen of the two countries was highlighted, with the goal of enhancing trade and investment opportunities. During the discussions, Chairman Senate revealed the establishment of a Pakistani embassy in Rwanda, indicating a pivotal step in fostering diplomatic relations.
The meeting also saw deep reflections on global issues, with Chairman Senate accentuating the gravity of the situation in Palestine and advocating for peace initiatives through parliamentary diplomacy. Chairman Senate also touched upon the Kashmir issue, underlining its centrality for Pakistan, and called for its resolution per UN resolutions.
Dr. Kalinda Francois Xavier expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended during their visit and recognized Pakistan’s pivotal role in the region. He also showcased eagerness to cooperate in areas such as trade and investment.
