Kigali: The inaugural round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Rwanda took place in Kigali on January 20, 2025, marking a significant step towards strengthening diplomatic ties. The discussions, led by Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan from Pakistan and Ambassador Clementine Mukeka from Rwanda, addressed potential areas for cooperation, including trade, security, and technology.

According to a statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to enhance diplomatic relations. The consultations focused on identifying mutually beneficial avenues, with an emphasis on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA).

The discussions also highlighted the importance of collaboration in education, culture, science, information technology, and agriculture. Both sides expressed their dedication to international cooperation to address global challenges and agreed to work closely in multilateral forums.

The meeting concluded with the signing of an MoU, formalizing the Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Rwanda, setting a foundation for future engagements and cooperative efforts.
