Pakistan and Russia to Enhance Collaboration in Education and Technology


Islamabad: A high-level delegation from the Russian Federation, led by Mr. Andrey Korneev, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Education, and Mr. Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, visited the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training today. The visit marks a significant step towards strengthening the educational ties between Pakistan and Russia, focusing on technology and cultural exchanges.



According to Press Information Department, the delegation included the Consultant of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, an Associate Professor from Ural State Pedagogical University, and officials from the Embassy of Russia in Pakistan. Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Federal Secretary for Ministry of Education and Professional training, briefed the delegation on the achievements and challenges in Pakistan’s education sector. The bilateral talks were centered on enhancing educational cooperation, building on the strong relationship that has developed over the past two decades.



During the discussions, both parties reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral educational cooperation and explored avenues to deepen these ties. They expressed a mutual commitment to promoting cultural and educational exchanges. The Pakistani side showed a keen interest in increasing collaboration between Pakistani and Russian universities, especially in emerging technologies. The Russian Deputy Minister highlighted initiatives to promote the Russian language in Pakistan and to enhance educational connections between the two nations.



An agreement was reached to establish a Russian Facilitation Center in Islamabad to assist students seeking admissions to Russian educational institutes. Additionally, the delegation expressed their willingness to organize a Russian Educational Expo in Pakistan to further strengthen cooperation in education and promote technology-based industrial linkages.



The Russian delegation also visited Islamabad College for Girls (ICG), Sector F-6/2, Islamabad, where they appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training in advancing pedagogical initiatives, with a particular focus on girls’ education. Both sides agreed to draft plans for finalization at the forthcoming Joint Working Group meeting, expected in October 2024. The year 2025 is anticipated to be a year of action, highlighting the essence of collaboration between Pakistan and Russia.
