Islamabad: The 15th round of the Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group on Strategic Stability convened in Islamabad, with officials from both nations engaging in extensive discussions on international security and arms control. Led by Tahir Andrabi, Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary for Arms Control and Disarmament, and S.A. Ryabkov, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the meeting underscored the countries’ commitment to addressing global stability concerns.

The consultations covered a wide array of issues, including arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation. Both delegations exchanged perspectives on the First Committee of the UN General Assembly, the Conference on Disarmament, and agencies such as the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

In addition to traditional security matters, discussions extended to space issues, international information security, and the military implications of new technologies, notably artificial intelligence.

The participants expressed mutual satisfaction with their aligned viewpoints on these critical topics. They agreed to sustain close bilateral coordination and engage constructively on relevant international platforms.

Looking ahead, the delegations decided to hold their next meeting in Moscow in 2026, reflecting their ongoing commitment to strategic dialogue.
