Islamabad, 17 Oct 2023:Pakistan has signaled its intent to bolster ties with Russia across a variety of sectors, prominently including defense, intelligence sharing, and counter-terrorism. This commitment was communicated by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar during a dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing. Both leaders underscored the paramountcy of enhancing bilateral relations to foster regional cooperation.
Kakar highlighted the shared interests between the nations, particularly on combating terrorism, and emphasized the importance of mutual collaboration to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan. Furthermore, Kakar invited Russian investment in Pakistan’s energy sector. Responding, President Putin emphasized the necessity of stability for economic growth and acknowledged the vast potential for increased economic collaboration between the nations.
