Islamabad: In a significant development, Pakistan and Russia have agreed to strengthen their military-to-military relations. This commitment was reaffirmed during a high-level meeting between General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan, and a prominent Russian delegation.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Russian delegation, led by Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin, included key military and security figures such as Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Venediktov and Deputy Chief of General Staff Colonel General S. Y. Istrakov. The discussions focused on a broad range of topics including connectivity, trade, energy, security, and more specifically, military and technical cooperation.
The meeting also addressed regional security issues and the ongoing global fight against terrorism, highlighting the shared concerns and potential areas for cooperation between the two nations. The talks are part of ongoing efforts to deepen ties in various strategic domains, reflecting an increased interest in forging a closer partnership amidst changing global dynamics.
