Pakistan and Russia Aim to Enhance Military and Security Cooperation


Islamabad: General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan, recently concluded a series of high-level meetings in Russia with key military officials, aimed at bolstering bilateral military and security relations.



According to Inter Services Public Relations, General Mirza met with Colonel General Alexander Fomin, Deputy Defence Minister of Russia, Aleksandr Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council, and Colonel General S. Y. Istrakov, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. These meetings focused on enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including connectivity, trade, energy, and security.



Discussions during these meetings emphasized the significance of strengthening military-to-military relations and explored avenues for military technical cooperation. The talks also covered the regional security dynamics and the ongoing challenges posed by terrorism, with both sides expressing a keen interest in deepening their defense ties.
