Islamabad, In a recent diplomatic interaction, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan expressed the country’s intent to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Russia across various sectors, including energy, trade, and investment. This discussion took place during a meeting with Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev in Islamabad.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister emphasized the historical and cordial relationship between Pakistan and Russia, highlighting the potential for expanded collaboration. Sharif called for the early convening of the 9th session of the Inter-governmental Commission (IGC), which is set to be hosted by Russia, signaling a proactive approach to enhancing bilateral relations.
Further, the Prime Minister encouraged increased interaction between the two countries by proposing a visit of the Russian delegation to Pakistan. This would aim to explore and identify new avenues for enhancing trade and investment ties. He also renewed his invitation to President Putin for an official visit to Pakistan, indicating the importance Pakistan places on its relations with Russia.
Ambassador Khorev reciprocated the sentiment, affirming Russia’s desire to fortify its ties with Pakistan, not only in the realms of energy, trade, and investment but also in education and culture, laying the groundwork for a multifaceted partnership between the two nations.
