Islamabad: Barrister Danyal Chaudhary, who serves as both the Convener of the Pakistan-Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Broadcasting, recently held a meeting with H.E. Dan Stoenescu, the Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan. The discussion focused on advancing bilateral relations, expanding parliamentary collaboration, and fostering closer people-to-people connections between the two countries.
In the meeting, Barrister Danyal acknowledged Romania’s ongoing support and cordial relations with Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnerships in parliamentary diplomacy, economic relations, cultural exchange, and media collaboration.
Ambassador Stoenescu highlighted efforts to establish media partnerships with the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation. The goal is to promote cultural understanding and enhance information exchange between the two nations. He also emphasized the potential for collaboration between Radio Romania and Radio Pakistan, as well as Romania TV and Pakistan Television (PTV).
The Pakistan-Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group was identified as a key platform for fostering inter-parliamentary dialogue. Both sides agreed to enhance mutual understanding between their Parliaments, identify new areas for trade and economic cooperation, and promote stronger people-to-people linkages and institutional collaboration.
The Ambassador briefed Barrister Danyal on the launch of opera singing courses at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, a collaborative effort with the Romanian Embassy. This initiative was acknowledged for its contribution to cultural exchange and artistic development.
Additionally, the Romanian Embassy is collaborating with Pakistani academic institutions to introduce Romanian language courses. The first course is set to begin soon at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Islamabad, aiming to expand cultural cooperation and academic opportunities.
Barrister Danyal proposed the production of a documentary with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to showcase the Romanian Embassy’s achievements and highlight key milestones in bilateral relations. The Ambassador welcomed this proposal.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to formalize people-to-people linkages, strengthen cultural ties, and enhance parliamentary exchanges, thereby promoting bilateral diplomacy.
