Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammed Shehbaz Sharif met with Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, to discuss enhancing economic collaboration between Pakistan and Qatar. The meeting coincided with the 6th Session of the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).
The discussions underscored the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, grounded in shared faith and mutual respect. Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged Qatar’s role as a key partner and influential mediator in the region.
The Prime Minister highlighted opportunities for increased trade and investment, particularly in sectors such as energy, agriculture, food security, information technology, tourism, and infrastructure. He invited Qatari investors to explore possibilities within Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council framework.
Sheikh Faisal conveyed greetings from Qatar’s leadership and reiterated Qatar’s commitment to deepening economic ties. He emphasized the JMC’s role in reviewing current cooperation and identifying areas for new initiatives.
Both sides expressed appreciation for Qatar’s support on regional and global issues and agreed to strengthen collaboration at regional and multilateral fora. They also committed to translating shared understandings into concrete outcomes, focusing on business-to-business linkages and investment projects.
