Pakistan and Qatar Enhance Bilateral Security Cooperation


Doha, In a notable bilateral meeting, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (SAPM OP and HRD) Jawad Sohrab Malik met with Qatar’s Minister of State for Interior Affairs, H.E Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani, to discuss cooperation in the security field and economic development.



According to Press Information Department, the SAPM lauded Qatar for its exceptional hosting of the FIFA World Cup-2022 and recognized the significant contribution of the Pakistani diaspora in Qatar’s infrastructure achievements. Malik expressed Pakistan’s continued commitment to providing skilled manpower to support Qatar’s economic goals.



During their meeting, SAPM Malik proposed the opening of additional Qatar Visa Centers (QVCs) in Pakistan, particularly in Peshawar and Lahore, to facilitate the mobility of Pakistani workers. He also praised Qatar’s efforts in addressing the Gaza conflict and extended an invitation for the Qatari Minister to visit Pakistan.



The Minister of State for Interior Affairs of Qatar acknowledged the valuable role of Pakistani expatriates in the country’s progress and reflected on the deep-rooted economic, trade, and defense ties between Pakistan and Qatar. He informed the SAPM that the proposal for additional QVCs is under consideration, pending a feasibility study.



The meeting, which also included the Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar and Community Welfare Attaches, underscored the mutual interests of both countries and the intention to further develop their cooperative relationship in various fields, including security.
