ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Poland have reached an agreement to enhance cooperation in security, intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism, and law enforcement. The understanding was achieved during a meeting in Islamabad between Polish Minister Tomasz Siemoniak and Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions resulted in plans to finalize several Memorandums of Understanding, including one on Mutual Legal Assistance. A delegation from Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, led by Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, is expected to visit Poland soon to further solidify bilateral relations.
The meeting underscored Pakistan’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, illegal migration, and organized crime, with Interior Minister Naqvi noting a 64 percent reduction in illegal migration from Pakistan to Europe due to government measures. Both nations agreed to increase employment and legal migration opportunities for Pakistanis in Europe as a strategy to curb illegal migration.
Polish Minister Tomasz Siemoniak emphasized the shared stance of Pakistan and Poland on counter-terrorism and security matters, expressing Poland’s support for Pakistan’s efforts toward regional peace and stability.
