Muscat: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, met with Sheikh Dr. Kehlan al-Khalusi, the assistant to the Supreme Mufti of Oman, to discuss collaborative efforts aimed at promoting interfaith harmony, peace, and education, as well as combating Islamophobia.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored the deep cultural, historical, and religious connections between Pakistan and Oman. Both parties agreed on several initiatives including the translation of important religious texts, the exchange of delegations, and the establishment of bilateral cooperation through memorandums of understanding (MOUs). Minister Hussain emphasized that fostering interfaith harmony is a priority for the Government of Pakistan and a defining characteristic of Pakistani society.
The discussions also focused on the need to highlight common values across different religions to promote high human values and religious tolerance. The reaffirmed commitment from both sides aims to foster a collaborative environment that supports these shared goals.
This engagement was part of Minister Hussain’s three-day visit to Oman, during which he also held meetings with Oman’s political and religious leadership to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss issues of mutual concern.
