Pakistan and Oman Call for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza


Muscat: During the eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Bilateral Political Consultations held today, Pakistan and Oman emphasized the urgency of implementing an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and the establishment of a viable, sovereign State of Palestine. The talks covered a range of topics, including serious concerns over the ongoing conflict in Gaza, bilateral relations, and regional stability.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Pakistani delegation, led by Ambassador Shehryar Akbar Khan, and the Omani representatives, headed by Ambassador Sheikh Ahmad bin Hashil bin Rashid Al Maskari, voiced grave concerns over the violence in Gaza and called for the immediate cessation of hostilities. Discussions also addressed the broader scope of bilateral relations between the two nations, with particular focus on enhancing trade, investment, security, defense, cultural exchanges, and health and consular services.



Both sides agreed to intensify efforts to increase bilateral trade and investment, with Oman showing interest in Pakistan’s agriculture, minerals, and Information Technology sectors through the Special Investment Facilitation Council. The Omani side also supported the upcoming First Pakistani Business Expo in Muscat and endorsed the provision of visas on arrival for Omani nationals.



The session underscored the strategic importance of the bilateral relationship and explored avenues to strengthen ties and cooperation across various sectors. The consultations serve as a key mechanism for both countries to review their relationship comprehensively and identify new areas for collaboration, reinforcing the historic and strategic ties between Pakistan and Oman.
