Pakistan and Maldives Strengthen Ties at UN General Assembly Meeting


New York: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan met with President Dr. Muizzu of the Maldives in a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The leaders emphasized their commitment to enhancing cooperation between their countries in various sectors including trade, tourism, education, investment, and climate change. Both sides also acknowledged the importance of regional collaboration for peace and economic growth in South Asia.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting, described as warm and cordial, served as a platform for both leaders to discuss the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the Maldives. Prime Minister Sharif reassured Dr. Muizzu of Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening ties and working on shared goals such as sustainable development and increased people-to-people exchanges.



The discussion also highlighted the role of South Asian nations in fostering regional stability and prosperity. Both leaders agreed on the significance of collaborative efforts to achieve these objectives.
