Pakistan and Malaysia Forge Alliance to Enhance Telecommunications Sector

Islamabad, In a significant move to bolster the telecommunications sector, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has entered into a Letter of Cooperation with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) during the Mobile World Congress 2024 held in Barcelona, Spain. This partnership marks a strategic alliance aimed at advancing digital connectivity and fostering innovation within the ICT sectors of both nations.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the agreement was formalized at the Malaysia Pavilion, setting the stage for a collaborative relationship that aligns with the mutual goals and objectives of both regulatory bodies. MCMC Chairman, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the potential benefits and synergies that could arise from this international partnership.

PTA Chairman, Maj Gen (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, underscored the importance of this cooperation in propelling the telecommunications industry forward. He pointed out that the alliance with MCMC is a critical step towards promoting the growth of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Pakistan and Malaysia, indicating a shared vision for a digitally connected future.

The collaboration encompasses a wide array of areas including digital connectivity, the proliferation of fixed broadband services, satellite-based telecommunication services, network security, Internet governance, Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and more.
