Pakistan and Malaysia Discuss Regional Tensions Amid Calls for Investigation

Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, addressing concerns over rising tensions in South Asia following the Pahalgam incident.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed Pakistan’s apprehensions regarding India’s recent actions, which have escalated regional tensions. He firmly rejected any attempts to link Pakistan to the incident without presenting evidence.

Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s stance for an international investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need for transparency and neutrality. He invited Malaysia to take part in this proposed inquiry.

The conversation highlighted Pakistan’s condemnation of terrorism and its role as a key player in combating terror. Sharif noted that India’s actions were diverting Pakistan’s focus from its counterterrorism efforts.

Sharif stressed that Pakistan, having recently stabilized its economy, would not engage in controversies that could jeopardize its progress.

The discussion also touched upon the relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties. They discussed enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.

Sharif expressed his eagerness to visit Malaysia officially later in the year.

The call underscored the strong friendship between the two nations, with both leaders agreeing to maintain communication on regional and international matters.
