Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan Seek to Strengthen Strategic Partnership


Cholpon-Ata: Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a strategic partnership, focusing on enhancing trade, economic ties, and investment cooperation. This development was announced during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.



According to Radio Pakistan, a joint statement released after the talks highlighted the importance of direct contacts between the countries’ business communities, including chambers of commerce, investment agencies, and financial institutions. Both nations aim to encourage joint projects and ventures, especially in the energy sector, with a particular emphasis on the CASA-1000 Project.



The leaders underscored the strategic importance of transport connectivity between Central and South Asia and reaffirmed their commitment to implementing agreements in transport, logistics, and transit. They expressed readiness to leverage Pakistan’s seaports and Kyrgyzstan’s logistics potential to enhance access to Central Asian and Eurasian markets.



Both Presidents emphasized the need for increased cargo transportation and the creation of stable transport routes. They also reiterated their interest in furthering cooperation in education, science, culture, tourism, and public health, including enhancing medical education quality and regulatory collaboration.



Condemning regional and global terrorist attacks, the leaders agreed to collaborate at international forums like the UN, SCO, and OIC to combat terrorism. The Kyrgyz Republic acknowledged Pakistan’s peace efforts in the Middle East, welcoming the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding as a foundation for lasting regional stability.



In his remarks, President Zardari emphasized the historically close relations between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan and advocated for strengthening ties across various sectors and promoting international peace. He also highlighted the potential for enhancing air connectivity by increasing flight frequencies between the two countries.
