Pakistan and Kazakhstan to Strengthen Bilateral Ties Through Strategic Partnership


Islamabad: In a move aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Alibek Bakayev, held discussions with Dr. Kazim Niaz, the Federal Secretary for Economic Affairs of Pakistan. The meeting highlighted the two nations’ commitment to enhancing their partnership, particularly through the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Joint Intergovernmental Commission (JIC).



According to Press Information Department, the meeting concluded with a mutual decision to convene the 13th Session of the JIC in Islamabad and Karachi in January 2025. A key focus of the discussions was the transport and communication sector, with Kazakhstan expressing interest in leveraging Pakistan’s extensive infrastructure, including its seaports and road networks. Dr. Niaz assured Kazakhstan of Pakistan’s full support to improve connectivity as part of the upcoming JIC.



Both parties agreed to organize Joint Working Group meetings on Trade & Investment, Agriculture, and ICT before the JIC Session. These preparatory meetings aim to facilitate efficient decision-making during the high-level gathering. The discussions ended with both Dr. Niaz and Mr. Bakayev reaffirming their dedication to exploring new avenues of cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
