Islamabad: Pakistan is set to enhance its economic relationship with Japan following a strategic meeting between Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain and a high-level Japanese delegation from the Japan-Pakistan Innovation Institute (JPII). The meeting focused on fostering bilateral cooperation by emphasizing technical assistance and skill development over financial aid.
According to Press Information Department, the Japanese delegation included prominent figures such as JPII Chairman Mitsuru Kiuchi and JPII President M. Bilal Bhinder, among others. Minister Hussain highlighted the importance of technical skill development and certification for Pakistani workers seeking opportunities in Japan, urging Japanese institutions in Pakistan to prioritize these areas. The meeting also addressed the need to enhance standards and tackle technical challenges to benefit from Japan’s job market.
Inspired by Tokyo’s specialized courses, Minister Hussain proposed replicating this model in Pakistan. The meeting concluded with Japan’s request for a business model for collaboration in 2025, and Minister Hussain announced plans to establish a center of excellence in Pakistan. This initiative is expected to bolster Pakistan-Japan relations by creating new opportunities for economic growth and knowledge exchange.
