Islamabad: The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, met on Friday to reinforce their countries’ commitment to global peace and the unity of the Muslim Ummah. The meeting underscored the shared resolve of Pakistan and Iran to address international disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, while also emphasizing cooperation in economic development and trade.
Prime Minister Sharif welcomed the Iranian delegation, led by Speaker Ghalibaf, and highlighted the longstanding bilateral ties between the two nations. He acknowledged the shared experiences of both countries as victims of terrorism and reiterated their mutual condemnation of state-sponsored terrorism. He also expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including economic ties and trade.
Speaker Ghalibaf extended his gratitude to Pakistan for its support during the recent Iran-Israel conflict, noting that the people of Iran deeply appreciate Pakistan’s stance during the 12-day war. He emphasized the importance of unity among Muslim countries and conveyed a message of goodwill from Iranian President Masoud Pazeshkian.
The meeting was attended by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi. Both countries expressed a commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, with a focus on economic development and trade.
