Karachi, In a significant 45-minute telephone conversation, President Dr. Arif Alvi of Pakistan and President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran discussed the urgent need for a united response from Islamic countries to the crisis in Gaza and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, both presidents expressed deep concern over the ongoing Israeli aggression in occupied Palestine, including Gaza. President Alvi lamented the failure of the UN Security Council to impose a ceasefire and end the atrocities, with over 19,000 Palestinian casualties, including women and children. He emphasized the necessity of a solution based on an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds-Al-Sharif as its capital for lasting peace in the Middle East.
President Alvi also appreciated Iran’s support for Pakistan’s stance on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and its commitment to the Palestinian cause. He extended condolences for the recent terrorist attack on an Iranian police station in Siestan-Baluchistan and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to collaborate with Iran in combating terrorism.
The leaders discussed bilateral economic cooperation, highlighting the joint inauguration of the Mand-Pishin Border Sustenance Market place and the Gabd-Polan Electricity Transmission Line as key developments strengthening ties between the two countries. They acknowledged the shared culture, religion, and history of Pakistan and Iran and agreed to work closely to enhance economic, trade, and cultural relations.
