Pakistan and Iran Pledge Cooperation for Global Peace

Islamabad: Pakistan and Iran have reiterated their commitment to work together for global peace and the unity of the Muslim Ummah, as stated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During a meeting in Islamabad with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of cohesion and cooperation between the two nations.

The Prime Minister welcomed the Iranian delegation, reflecting on the cordial bilateral relations shared with Iran. He stressed the shared commitment of both countries to resolve global disputes through dialogue and diplomacy. Sharif also conveyed his respect to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pazeshkian.

Both countries, Sharif noted, have been victims of terrorism and have consistently condemned state-sponsored terrorism. He highlighted their resolve to support each other against unilateral aggression and underscored the shared goals of global peace and regional cooperation.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to enhance collaboration with Iran in areas of mutual interest, particularly in economic development and trade.

Speaker Ghalibaf, in his remarks, appreciated Pakistan’s support during the recent Iran-Israel conflict, acknowledging the valued support from the Pakistani government and people. He emphasized the shared belief in the unity of the Muslim Ummah and the pursuit of global peace.

Ghalibaf also highlighted the positive cooperation between the parliaments of both countries and expressed Iran’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in economic and trade sectors. The meeting was also attended by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi.
