Pakistan and ILO Discuss Workforce Development at Global Labour Market Conference in Riyadh

Karachi, At the Global Labour Market Conference (GLMC) in Riyadh, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Mr. Jawad Sohrab Malik, engaged in pivotal discussions with Mr. Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO). The meeting focused on integrating Pakistan’s workforce development strategies with ILO’s global standards.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the engagement between Pakistan and ILO was aimed at enhancing the skills and employability of the Pakistani workforce. This initiative is seen as crucial in aligning national policies with international standards to ensure the welfare and prosperity of the workforce.

During the meeting, Mr. Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of ILO, called on the global community to support and create employment opportunities for Pakistani youth. He highlighted the significant potential of Pakistan’s youth demographic, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to provide quality employment prospects.

SAPM Jawad Sohrab Malik reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with the ILO. He underscored the government’s dedication to implementing effective strategies for the benefit of the Pakistani workforce, aiming to foster an environment conducive to sustainable economic growth and prosperity.
